Stress in the workplace
The signs that are easy to overlook
Stress is a reaction to strain that lasts too long. The signs often creep up: poorer sleep, a shorter fuse, forgetfulness, fewer breaks and less desire for the things that used to give energy. The earlier the signs are seen, the less it usually takes.
A heavy workload and time pressure, unclear demands and high emotional demands are working conditions that can lead to stress. They are also covered by the rules on the psychosocial work environment, which the employer must prevent. Read more in the guide to the APV rules.
The content
What participants practise
- Spotting the signs of strain in themselves and in colleagues.
- Having the conversation about wellbeing and strain, also as a manager with each person.
- Creating breaks and rhythm in an ordinary working week.
- Using small tools that work from the next working day.
- Linking the effort to the APV, so the shared and the personal fit together.
Format and scope
A wide range of formats and lengths
Academy offers a wide range of formats, so the course can fit your everyday work: workshops on one specific challenge, online sessions for teams in different locations, on-site training with your own cases, and longer programmes over several modules. Price and scope are agreed based on format, number of participants and what you want to achieve.
A good fit when
The course fits you when
- Busyness and time pressure take up a lot of room in everyday work.
- Managers want to be able to have the conversation about wellbeing earlier.
- You want to prevent sickness absence rather than handle it afterwards.
- The APV points to the psychosocial work environment, and you want to act on it.
Questions and answers
What do you learn on a stress management course?
Participants learn to spot the signs of strain early, in themselves and in colleagues, and to have the conversation while the adjustment is small. Managers practise the conversation about wellbeing with each person, and everyone leaves with tools for an ordinary working week.
Who is the stress management course for?
The course is for managers and employees who want to work with wellbeing continuously. It is a good fit when busyness and time pressure take up a lot of room, and when you want to prevent sickness absence rather than handle it afterwards.
What are the signs of stress?
Typical signs are poorer sleep, a shorter fuse, forgetfulness, fewer breaks and less desire for the things that used to give energy. If the signs are clear or last a long time, it is a good idea to talk to your manager and your own doctor.
Can the course be linked to our APV?
Yes. The programme can be linked to, for example, APV+, which gives an anonymous, combined picture of the work environment. The course can then start from what your APV points to, so the shared and the personal fit together.
Can the course be held at our workplace?
Yes. Academy can teach at your workplace based on your own situations. Together we agree on format and scope based on your everyday work and what you want to prevent.

In a short meeting we clarify your challenges and the solutions that fit. We deliver the courses directly to companies and public organisations, or through a partner.
