What is it?
A short, guided conversation on the phone or in the browser, and a combined picture of the work environment in an application for management and the health and safety organisation.
Who uses it?
HR, managers and the health and safety organisation. All employees can answer, including those who work evenings, nights or on the move.
And the employee?
The employee sees what is passed on before the answers are sent. The answers are shown combined and without quotes when there are enough answers to protect the individual.
What does it require?
A link for the employees and an agreement with the health and safety organisation on what to map.
A manager and a health and safety representative talk during the break while colleagues answer the APV conversation on their phones

How it works

From mapping to follow-up

STEP 01

Mapping as a conversation

Employees answer in a short conversation about what takes up space in their work, for example workload, unclear demands, collaboration, emotional demands and physical conditions.

STEP 02

A combined picture

The answers are combined at workplace level and placed next to your overall sickness absence for the workplace or department, so you can see where action matters most.

STEP 03

Action plan

Management and the health and safety organisation set priorities and write an action plan with shared measures, a timeline and named owners.

STEP 04

Follow-up in your rhythm

The conversation can be repeated, for example every quarter, so you can see whether the measures work long before the next APV.

The APV and the rules

How to carry out an APV by the rules

An APV is a legal requirement for every company with at least one employee, and it must cover all employees. It must be carried out when the work changes in a way that can affect the work environment, and the work environment must be reviewed at least every three years. The employer chooses the method, but the APV must be in writing and contain:

  • A risk assessment based on a mapping of the work environment.
  • An assessment of whether the work environment can contribute to sickness absence.
  • A written action plan for the problems that cannot be solved right away, with the nature, severity, scope and causes of the problems, and when, how and by whom they will be solved.
  • Implementation and follow-up on whether the measures work.

The health and safety organisation takes part throughout the process and signs the action plan. In companies without a health and safety organisation, the employees take part in the same way. The action plan must be available to management, employees and the Danish Working Environment Authority. Source: Executive Order on systematic work environment management, no. 608 of 29 June 2026 (in Danish).

The APV covers both the physical and the psychosocial work environment. Source: Danish Working Environment Authority, Requirements for the APV (in Danish). The rules on the psychosocial work environment mention, among other things, high workload and time pressure, unclear and conflicting demands, high emotional demands, offensive behaviour and work-related violence, and prevention must prioritise shared measures over individual ones. What you get

What you get out of it

  • An APV process that follows the steps in the rules: mapping, sickness absence, action plan and follow-up.
  • More honest answers, because each person answers in a confidential conversation.
  • A picture of the work environment you can follow throughout the year.
  • Shared measures at workplace level, which the health and safety organisation helps prioritise.
  • A combined picture you can use in your reporting on the work environment.

A good fit

APV+ is a good fit when

  • Your APV is due to be carried out or renewed.
  • Many employees work shifts, on the move or without a fixed computer.
  • The response rate for your APV questionnaire is usually low.
  • You want to follow the work environment more often than every three years.
  • You need a better basis for the action plan.

In depth

Behind APV+

What is an APV?

APV stands for arbejdspladsvurdering, the Danish workplace risk assessment. It is the employer's written mapping and assessment of the work environment, both physical and psychosocial, with an action plan for what needs to improve. The APV is carried out together with the health and safety organisation and followed up, so the measures are implemented. APV+ follows the APV from mapping to follow-up.

Is the APV a legal requirement?

Yes. Every company with at least one employee must have an APV, and it must cover all employees. The requirement is set out in the Executive Order on systematic work environment management, no. 608 of 29 June 2026, which came into force on 1 July 2026. The employer is responsible, also when outside help is used.

How often must the APV be carried out?

The APV must be carried out when the work, methods or processes change in a way that can affect the work environment, and the work environment must be reviewed at least every three years. With APV+ you can follow the work environment more often, for example every quarter, so the action plan can be adjusted along the way.

What must an APV contain?

A risk assessment based on a mapping of the work environment, an assessment of whether the work environment can contribute to sickness absence, a written action plan with the nature, severity, scope and causes of the problems and when, how and by whom they will be solved, and follow-up on whether the measures work. The health and safety organisation takes part all the way and signs the action plan. In companies without a health and safety organisation, the employees take part in the same way.

What is a digital APV?

A digital APV is a workplace risk assessment where the mapping happens online, usually as an electronic questionnaire. In APV+ the employee answers in a short, guided conversation on the phone or in the browser, and the answers are combined into a picture that management and the health and safety organisation can take forward in the action plan.

Who can see the answers?

The employee sees what is passed on before the answers are sent. The answers become part of a combined picture for the workplace or department and are shown without quotes when there are enough answers to protect the individual. Management and the health and safety organisation work with the combined picture. If an employee reports something serious, for example offensive behaviour, the employee can choose to pass it on, with or without their name.

How is sickness absence included?

The rules require the APV to include sickness absence and to assess whether the work environment can contribute to it. In APV+ your overall sickness absence for the workplace or department can be placed next to the picture from the conversations, so you can see where they point the same way and where to act.

How do we get started with APV+?

We begin with a 30-minute intro meeting. Then we agree with you and the health and safety organisation what to map and who should answer. Employees receive a link, and the combined picture is ready for the action plan once the answers are in.

Make the next APV a picture you can act on.

In a short meeting we clarify your challenges and the solutions that fit. We deliver directly to companies and public organisations, or through a partner.
