Change management

What change management is about

Change management means leading people through a change so they understand it, can see their own place in it and can act in it. The structure and the plan are usually clear early on. What decides whether the change lands is often the reactions: uncertainty, resistance, the loss of the familiar and the hope of something better.

The reactions are a normal part of a change. Managers who can meet them and talk about them give employees a better chance of finding their feet in the new situation.

The content

What managers practise on the course

  • Preparing the message and the first conversations before the change is announced.
  • Meeting uncertainty and resistance in conversations with individuals and with the team.
  • Giving employees a place to say what weighs on them, so it can be talked about in time.
  • Following the change from the decision until the organisation has landed.
  • Handling goodbyes when the change means that someone has to move on.

Format and scope

A wide range of formats and lengths

Academy offers a wide range of formats, so the course can fit your everyday work: workshops on one specific challenge, online sessions for teams in different locations, on-site training with your own cases, and longer programmes over several modules. Price and scope are agreed based on format, number of participants and what you want to achieve.

A good fit when

The course fits you when

  • You are in the middle of a restructuring, merger or major change.
  • The plan is in place, and employees need to be brought along.
  • Managers have to announce something difficult.
  • Managers and HR need to speak the same language about the change.

Questions and answers

What is change management?

Change management means leading people through a change so they understand it, can see their place in it and can act in it. It covers both the plan and the reactions among employees, such as uncertainty and resistance, which often decide whether the change lands.

Who is the change management course for?

The course is for managers and HR in the middle of a restructuring, a merger or another major change. It is a good fit when the plan is in place and managers need to bring employees along, also when the message is difficult.

Can the change management course be held at our workplace?

Yes. Academy can teach at your workplace based on your own situations, and the programme can follow you from the decision until the organisation has landed. Together we agree on format and scope based on the change you are in.

What if the change means redundancies?

Then the programme can be supplemented with OUTPLACE, which gives the person made redundant help with the next step and prepares the manager for the conversation about the dismissal. At the same time, managers practise how to talk with those who stay.

How do we get started with the course?

We start with a short meeting about the change you are in and who needs to take part. Then we put the programme together so it fits your timeline and the conversations managers need to have.

Tell us about the change you are in.

In a short meeting we clarify your challenges and the solutions that fit. We deliver the courses directly to companies and public organisations, or through a partner.
